TAKING ACTION

Starting with PHASE 1 !!!
We have created this page to gather immediate funds and to give instant visibility to the families. Aim? To produce impactful work in the short run

PARTICIPATORY PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT
Picture from training-Photovoice project

Engaging Families-With the facilitation of activist and photographers, families in different part of Nepal, will be given cameras, so that they can express what the loss means to them, as the enduring emptiness, pain and lack of answers in their life.

JR.Inside Out Project, New York
Engaging activists, students, youth and elderly, PEOPLE LIKE YOU and whoever wants to support - The idea was given by the Inside Out Project funded by French photographer JR. The participatory art project starts working at a larger scale, and it aims in transforming messages of personal identity into pieces of artistic work. Black and white photographic portraits will be taken by photographers to discover, reveal and share the untold stories and images of the families.
These images will be printed into posters and placed in public spaces of the capital city of Kathmandu, in the villages of origins of the families, in their communities.

·
PRESERVING MEMORY
There are non memorials as yet in Nepal, which can show younger generations how incidents happened during conflict must not be repeated. Public memory, is a way for society to move further peacefully in a respectful way, with no sense of revenge. It is therefore important not to forget

Simply, we want to contribute to helping communities and families in keeping their memories alive especially involving the younger generations including the sons and daughters of the missing who have often been raised without knowing their disappeared parent.

A possible way of keeping memories
MEMORY BOX-.  Families will create a memory box, by collecting materials or whatever remembers them of their lost relative.

MEMORY BOOK_ Stories are fundamental in rebuilding a collective memory, and families who for a long time have been unheard and stigmatised can not be ignored further. Activist and volunteers, will try to collect stories and also pictures, which hopefully will be published in a book to distribute to families, communities and civil society.

·

DOCUMENTING
The participatory photography project as well as the steps taken in helping families building and preserving their memory will be captured in a short documentary film, which will show how our plan developed. What is most important it will be a contribution in remembering the missing person in Nepal and their families.
Example of filming in rural areas fromVolunteer Aid Nepal
The film will document the right to know and how social efforts and awareness are crucial for taking action and supporting those who are marginalised and do not have sufficient  instruments to speak up for justice and truth.

FUNDRAISING EVENT
Our contribution goes in creating a venue for displaying the pictures of photographers and families as well as their memory boxes through the creation of a memory gallery. The event will also screen the short documentary, and most important will host families’ representatives who will tell their stories personally
Exampale of Installation_Sarah Parker-Sikles Exhbition Trip
It will be an occasion to expose their concerns, to a wider public and to key actors who could hopefully promote families issues with sustainable interventions.
